Good summer read. Some aspects of it were tiring- the romance- and others were interesting- historical references. I will definitely read the second one.

I appreciated the deeply rooted academia throughout the story as it elevated traditional romantasy tropes. The love story is a little cringe at times but forgivable. The last third of the book is well worth the slower beginning.

I started reading after watching the show and fell in love with the books as well as the show. I like how the main female character is in her 30s and is independent. It’s relatable.
