Is it too much to say I hated this long book? The protagonist is inconsistent. When I first started reading this I thought (and hoped) we were going to have a strong fmc, but ended up having Diana do a 180 to become frail and submissive in a span of a few weeks. It is astonishing how many times someone can black out, pass out from being tired and have attention draw to their eating habits in the span of a few chapters.

2 stars is an act of charity. This book could have been at least 200 pages shorter, but I suspect the author was getting paid by the word, or by the unnecessary and overabundant scenes about wine. How, pray tell, does the most powerful witch in existence require constant rescuing from her overbearing, controlling, red-flag-factory of a boyfriend?
Final takeaways include:
-If I never hear the word “wine” again, it’ll be too soon.
-Somehow, a book about vampires, witches, and daemons made the supernatural feel aggressively dull.
-More yoga than a wellness influencer’s Instagram.
-Omg, the library… AGAIN?!
-Three full pages dedicated to dinner?
Honestly, I cannot believe I finished it.

A few things annoyed me and reminded me of Twilight. BUT the world building itself was intriguing and left me wanting to know more.
Going back into the past? Yes please. Definitely need the second book.

I don't really like the adult romantic fantasy genre.
But everybody told me I HAD to read this, as it is SO much BETTER than the other books in that genre.
Since I got told that, with a lot of emphasis on how much I NEEDED to, I finally got around to read it.
And honestly? Besides her knowing books, and being able to use some "fancy words", it was just the same as all those other "in love with a vampire" books.
It wasn't bad. It wasn't way better either. It was mediocre in my eyes.
I won't invest the time to read the sequels.

Loved these vibes!!!!! I sort of wish I read it in the fall but I’ve started the journey and now I’ve gots to see it through. I really enjoyed the audio book reader of this. Ultimately there are parts that are so SILLY but I buy in. Like these 2 people have known each other a MONTH and they’re literally about to throw their lives away for each other?! Guess you’ve got to date a literal vampire for that kind of commitment. Personally, I’m not all that into Matthew but I am invested in the story and the characters. I want these crazy kids to be ok!!!
