This book was so much more enjoyable than the appeal in my opinion. This wasn't too drawn out and lengthy, there weren't so many characters that drew away from the overall message.
This book had me laughing at times and my jaw dropping. You may want to read the first one before you pick up this novella oc it makes references to previous characters and events.
Overall this was an amazing novella.

What a fun lark of a mystery. Another play, this time at Christmas, brings a panto to the Fairway Players. It was fun revisiting this strange, power obsessed community. And the story itself is wonderfully funny. I may never look at beanstalks the same way again.

While this wasn't nearly as compelling as The Appeal, mostly because the least interesting characters made a comeback and there wasn't enough of characterization for the new characters to really hold my interest, the writing was still really great and it did make me laugh.

Fun book, does the job. Captures the same light hearted mystery of the first book with less nuance and less chance to work out the mystery for yourself, but that’s a result of the limited page count more than anything.

A modern epistolary novella using text messages, emails and police interview transcripts to tell the story of a mysterious death. I rather enjoyed it.

This was fine.

Not a great statement to start a review on, but that pretty much sums this book up. It wasn't bad. The plot was fine, and I still adore the narrative style that Hallett uses for the Appeal books, but it definitely lacked some of the awe that The Appeal did. Still, certainly a fine, easy read for Christmas (even if I am a little late).

A fun companion piece to “The Appeal” with a bit of Christmas spirit and some enjoyable humor, winks and nods throughout!
