A nice little Christmas read. I hadn’t read the other Appeal book but it really is a standalone piece with no need to have read the previous story.

Storytelling through emails and text messages, the style in which the book was written was really interesting, and had a known beforehand I may not have picked it up… but I actually really liked it. The story paced well and some parts were laugh out loud funny moments. The characters are good, but you can’t get too much in to them. It’s very surface level, however for the story it works well. You don’t really need to know more about them all.

A nice festive read and one I’d recommend for a quick and easy Christmas book.

Although this is probably even better appreciated by those families with Hallett's earlier book The Appeal, I came to it with no prior knowledge and was still entertained.

Told through a series of emails, letters, texts, and chat threads, we follow the progress (or implosion?) of a community theater production of Jack and the Beanstalk, complete with small town drama, gossip, and eventually...murder.

To be honest, I've never been much of a fan of novels in this format but it's handled well, maintaining consistent, clearly differentiated voices

Fans of cozies, Noises Off style farces, and quirky small town character ensembles like The Gilmore Girls will surely enjoy this.

What a fabulous revisit to Fairway Players! So easy to read and perfect way to get back into reading as it's under 200 pages. Loved, loved, loved!

A quick, easy to read christmassy who-dun-it that I thoroughly enjoyed! It was straight to the point and an exciting read that made you feel as if you were right at the front of the theatre production watching the mystery unfold. There were quite a few twists and turns to keep the reader at the edge of your seat & I absolutely adore the format of the book. May not be for everyone but it added to the pace and made it a fun & different type of book to pick up! Would definitely recommend
