Just like The Appeal, so much fun to read!
Moderate: Domestic abuse, Murder

first time reading a christmas book and a mystery book, and I actually enjoyed it a lot. it was a cute concept but the plot could’ve been dragged out a bit more! for me it ended too quickly

I loved The Appeal and wasn’t as keen on Hallet’s next two, so I was keen to read this and see what I thought. I enjoyed it a lot, but it was very short! I think this could have been a full novel, rather than just a short novella. That said, it had all the elements I enjoyed from the first book and a great storyline that kept me reading. I hope there is another set in this world. Thank you to Netgalley and the publishers.
3.5 ⭐️ A quick read written in the format of emails and text messages etc, which I enjoyed. It took me a bit to get into this and I think if I had read Appeal first, I may have understood all the characters dynamics sooner. It’s quite a way into the book until any actual crime occurs, so a lot of dialogue leading up to it. At times, quite funny and certain parts of the character’s drama was relatable.
