This was a cozy holiday mystery that can be read easily in one sitting. Would’ve easily given this more stars if the result of the mystery had been different. I felt like none of the *clues* led even remotely to the *truth* revealed in the end.

First book and first review of the year! I really like the way that these books are read, maybe I’m hungover but I couldn’t follow it properly but still enjoyed the simple read that these books are with a little bit of mystery to set off my new year

I read this in one sitting. Three stars ⭐️

It wasn’t as good as the appeal, but it was a funny little Christmas mystery.

A very quick read that's good fun. I don't actively try to work out whodunit as I go along. There are clever clues peppered throughout the book. If you're someone who actively seeks out the solution to the mystery, then you'll probably enjoy this as a challenge and will likely rate it higher than me. If you're not, this is still a good book to enjoy while relaxing with a cuppa, ideally while it's cold outside!

i guess it’s more of a fan service book and i should have read The Appeal first…? but i honestly think this was quite a poorly written mystery book
however, i quite enjoyed the format with the text messages and emails etc. that was what made me continue reading on

The Christmas Appeal by Janice Hallet is a carry over book with the same characters and concepts as Hallet’s other book titled, The Appeal. A while back I read Hallet’s book The Appeal and enjoyed it, however, this novel fell a little short for me. Hallet’s novel is christmas murder mystery told through emails, texts, police reports, and police interviews with the intent of solving the murder. Everyone who is apart of the christmas play is considered a suspect in order to find out who killed Santa. The way Hallet told the story through multiple perspectives made it hard to follow along, I tried just listening to the audiobook, using the audiobook and following along on my Kindle, and lastly simply only reading it on my kindle. All three of those options were not successful and still made it hard to follow along forcing me to reread a lot of sections. Overall, the storyline and mystery is interesting and kept me on my toes once I was able to follow along.

Fun and farcical, an easy read and nicely Christmassy.
