a great concept that ghibli was able to perfect. the actual execution of this, whether it be the translation or the original tale, was middling at best.

Cela faisait des années que j'attendais une édition française du roman qui a inspiré le fameux film de Hayao Miyazaki, Kiki la petite sorcière. J'ai enfin pu m'en procurer une copie: quel plaisir! Les aventures de Kiki sont certes différentes de l'adaptation en film, mais le sentiment en est très comparable: touchant, énergisant, et tellement pertinent pour les personnes qui vivent leur première expérience loin de chez eux! Jiji est bien entendu mon personnage préféré, avec ses remarques cinglantes et bien trouvées.
J'ai hâte de lire les prochains volumes!

Actually quite different from the Ghibli film in terms of plot. They have the same spirit though. Also I guess this is a book series and it's possible the film plot draws from other books? Haven't read further so can't say.

Digesting this I think that I enjoyed this story arch more that the general version of the Ghibli edition. That being said the genuine soft nature of the book radiates, Gigi is fantastic and Kiki isn’t nearly as polished in the best way possible.
