It's so cute. Every chapter is a little adventure in which Kiki delivers something, some of them are in the movie adaptation by Studio Ghibli and some aren't. I really liked Kiki's personality here, it feels more defined, and how we get to know more about her family and their relationship.

First, I am not the target audience for middle grade books and have no nostalgia for this particular story.

This story is a cutesy and sweet coming of age story about a witch trying to find her way in the world. Unfortunately, it's all surface level. There is no depth or nuance here, at least not in this installment.

This is a middle grade and I am in no way the right target group. I found this book cute and light and sweet. It still lacked some depth and character building, that middle grade is perfectly capable of doing. But not even book needs to be and so it's all fine to me. I struggled a bit with lots of people being absolutely unnecessarily rude and mean to Kiki.
