Not your typical boy and his dog story. Especially since his "dog" is actually a fox. As the boy and his fox are separated, the story alternates between the two narrations as they travel to find each other. Good life lessons. Going to be a great read aloud book; so many great things to discuss.
Sweet YA book I probably would've liked as a young person. It tells the story of a young boy, Peter, and his pet fox, Pax, after they are separated from one another. The location and the surrounding war are vague, which gives it almost a universal feel or even almost dystopic feel, but it works well in the story.
Note: the POV changes between humans and animals, but it doesn't feel cheesy.

Skończyłam i bardzo się z tego cieszę . Dosłownie nie mój gatunek . Nie zmienia to faktu , że pojawiają się tu lekcje , które warto przekazać swoim dzieciom .

Way sader then I expected but overall a good book.
This was sad and moving and definitely a new classic in the tradition of hero's journey/beloved pet/the costs of war. I was actually taken by surprise by how deep and sad this book was, by the war setting. My 8 year old recommended it for our book club because she loved it and I assumed it was something more like Charlotte's Web (which while classic and makes us all cry is also sweet and funny throughout). The writing is lovely and the alternating viewpoints are a beautiful example of how to do that so well. It sparked a wonderful book club conversation for us and a chance to explore some deep issues with my daughter. So, I recommend it but know that if you are a grown up, it will likely wreck you.
Tear jerker and heartbreaking animal tale. Sentimental but not sentimental writing. Parallels and connections are a tad heavy handed, but good book to introduce kids to literary devices.

My 5th grade students loved this book, and I loved reading it with them. There were somenspot in the middle that were lagging and boring for some. We didn't give up though and were invested in Pax and Peter. My students are eager to read the second book.

Pax explores the fierce loyalty and spiritual bond between a boy and his pet fox. The harsh realities of war are exposed and not sugar-coated. It pulled at my heartstrings from the first page to the last. The chapters alternate between Pax's viewpoint and Peter's. Time and place were not defined in this lovely but gut-wrenching tale.
