Even thought this is not my typical genre, I decided to give it a try.
All of the characters and world felt very real, so the greatest compliment I can pay it is really a credit to how the author brings everything to life in a very slice of life way.
The aimelessness of the story I can definitely see being a draw to this particular type of story especially for escaping from reality and having the feeling of being drawn into another world; this is what good stories do.
While I am impressed with that, I can't say it completely won me over and I may have glazed over given how sci fi the stroy can be at times and I think it's safe to say this is the closest I'll get to enjoying something within this type of story or genre.

This will be many people’s favorite book. But not mine, unfortunately. I liked the characters but felt the plot lacked any real direction or cohesion. And I felt lectured to the entire time. Were the lectures on how to be a better person? Yeah but…. It still felt like a lecture and not like a natural way to tell a story.
