This was weird, but in a good way. The title story and The Lady of the House of Love were my favourite, the Puss-in-Boots one the least, it felt like it was dragging and trying too hard to be funny. The darker ones are much better, and the language in some of them is beautiful.

I’m not going to lie, Carter’s feminist twist to so many beloved fairy tales is uncomfortable, but so necessary. The sexuality, vulnerability, and detailed description of her stories really got to me. Opened my eyes to a different kind of feminism that I haven’t particularly dabbled into.
Some of them were a little bit difficult to follow because of her rich prose (which is just a personal problem), but that prose did touch me dearly. Genuinely read this book if you’re into second wave feminism, and women’s sexuality.

Sehr gemischt, die meisten Geschichten fand ich extrem überornamentiert, aber immer wenn ich das Buch gerade aufgeben wollte, kam wieder eine, die ich mochte.
