As a fan of the TATBILB movies, this book was so disappointing. I think that the adaptation worked so much better as Peter was so much more of a charming person and love interest and he actually had chemistry with Lara Jean, which was something I did not feel at all when reading the first book in this series. Some events that occurred in the book felt quite meaningless or unnecessary and some scenes were not carried out in a way that felt realistic at all. Quite a big example I thought of was when Peter confronts Lara Jean about the letters that she has written and neither of them seem panicked or confused enough which is what worked so well in the movie format but fell very short in writing, all Lara Jean did was ask for the letter back and he gave it.
I will say though, I didn't FULLY hate everything about the book and there were definitely parts I wish the movie would have discussed in more depth. I think that the bond between Lara Jean and her sisters and the complexities of it were touched on in a beautiful way in this book that we really don't see at all in any of the movies. This bond, along with the description of their family cooking nights and how their lives changed after their mother died gave the book a really nice cosy aspect that we don't really get enough of in the movie in my opinion. Another thing that I liked that I wish the movie had discussed was Lara Jean's struggle with how she feels she doesn't live up to Peter's expectations of her sexually, yet she doesn't really ask him much about this because for most of this book they aren't dating officially. I wish that they included more of this in the movie because it was such a relatable aspect to read about, and would be such a valuable discussion for teens and young adults to see represented. All in all, the movie was 100% better and worth of your attention but I will read the other two books in the series to see how I feel about the series as a whole in book and movie form.

This book is for a middle school/ high school girl. It was a little slow at the beginning. I don't like the short paragraphs. I loved the whitty back and forth banter. I'm really sad that she wrapped up everything at the end except for Peter and Lara Jean's relationship. I also thought that Margo forgave Lara Jean too quickly. Though she shouldn't be too mad since they were broken up anyway.

so cute and fluffy! I really enjoyed this! the notes were probably my favourite part - they made me really value physical things instead of just texting or something. they really embodied what it’s like to be in love with someone. I want that now, ugh

Es como todo muy cute y pastel y tierno(?
Igual, todavia no estoy muy segura de lo que pienso de los personajes. Pero tengo en claro que Lara Jean me cae mucho mejor que la protagonista de The summer i turned pretty (mism autora)

Bästa comfort bok.
