I highly recommend this book to anyone in a reading slump. It's such a fun, quick read, telling a story about teenage love, high school, but also family.
The only problem I had with this book was Lara Jean being veery immature most of the time. Like, I know, the girl is 16 years old, but come one. At some parts it was painful to read. It was a bit unrealistic that her younger sister was so mature and grown-up at 9 years old, and that Lara Jean acted like a 10 year-old most of the time.
But I still really enjoyed the book, and I'm definitely going to pick up the sequel.

bold text: 4 Stars
This book was by no means up there in my favourite ALL-TIME books that I would point out and say yes, flawless, BUT it was a beautiful read, and something I really got stuck into.
The writing was very easy to follow, and it flowed seamlessly in and out between the different environments and scenarios which unfolded. The pacing was really good, and nothing happened so suddenly and unrealistically which was a refreshing twist. I managed to read this so quickly which is always pleasant.
It was quite filled with drama and high school romance, but it was enjoyable, and a fun read. I feel like Contemporary romance, especially those situated in high school, are overdone but this was not horrible, I feel because you can't help but get hooked in to finding out what happens and get emotionally involved with the characters.
Other tidbits:
- I did NOT like Margot...
- I had a love-hate relationship with Pete but ended up LOVING him. Major character development.
- Josh was so adorable, but no.
- Kitty was the cutest human ever to exist, and I so desperately wish I had a little younger sister who could show me how one can be truly sassy and witty.
Enjoyable read and I have already purchased the sequel with my credits on Audible hehe.

Movie did it better. A lot of filler involving the family and car rides, while barely squeezing out 350 pages. The movie goes into better depth about how it affects her social life and how it would truly play out between jealous parties

“Do you think there's a difference? Between belonging with and belonging to?”
my most reread book ever because it will never not be comforting as hell.
this book still gives me the warm fuzzies, it's such an adorable guilty (but also not-so-guilty) pleasure book!

I’ve read this book so many times and I forget what happens everytime. But I love the movies!!
This isn't the type of book I read normally, and I was a bit put off by the synopsis, but I wanted to read the book before I watched the new Netflix film. And now that I've finished it, maybe I was wrong about the genre after all? I loved it!
Yes, Lara Jean is a bit immature and boring (something they really improved upon in the film) but she is only 16, and I'm sure if most of us could read our diaries or journals from when we were 16 we'd cringe too. This book reminded me how intense and dramatic everything was in high school and I like that, a little bit of cheesiness is okay! I found myself smiling while I read this (something which doesn't happen often since I read such depressing books), and not wanting it to end. I can't wait to order the next two now and I know I'll probably get through them in a day as well.
TATBILB was such an easy read and I think that makes a good break between all the intense and serious books I've had on my TBR, maybe I need to read more lighthearted books sometimes!

This felt like reading the diary of a twelve-year-old girl. Which is odd since our protagonist is supposed to be a seventeen-year-old. Lara Jean is naive, spoiled, and childish and the entire book felt like it was written for middle schoolers and not for young adults.
Everyone in this book is a goody-goody to a cringe level and the worst that can be said about the 'bad boy' love interest is one time in seventh grade he cheated on a Spanish test. Oh, and thinking he's a player. In spite of the fact that he had been dating the same girl for four years. But yeah he's no good for her but the guy who kisses his ex-girlfriend's sister yeah he's the good one? Gross.
This entire thing feels like something that was written by someone uber Christian and their idea of what teens are like. Which is odd since there isn't anything overtly religious in the book. They pray once before dinner on Sunday and that's about it.
The only reason this got a second star is because as an asexual I did fully get the idea of enjoying the idea of romance but once you're presented with it personally suddenly it's like oh yikes no thanks. Though my reasoning is because I'm ace and Lara Jean's reason is because she's a seventeen going on seven.
There is also no actual end to this book. We spend over three hundred pages meandering about. Listening to the day-to-day life of Lara Jean only to suddenly just cut off when we get to what seems like it should be the middle of a better written book.

Oh, Dios.
