I started off enjoying this one, but then the in-depth, unimportant details got to be too much. Still good storyline overall, but I got sidetracked by too many details that weren’t pertinent to the plot.

I read this one thanks to the rave reviews on Bookstagram.

And while I could see why it's a popular book -- the storyline is unique and captivating -- I found myself wanting more than what the novel gave me.

It is a quick read, packed full of action and high stakes drama. But I struggled liking the characters -- which is harsh I know considering their circumstances. I REALLY did not enough that a character was named "Big Daddy". For that reason alone, I wanted to DNF this one - lol. And I have to say, I really DISLIKED that the bad guys are yet again non-American men from the Middle East. Not a fan of that profiling.

I have a friend who works for a major airport, and he did comment that this book is very accurate in regard to the how's and whys of airplane operations and flight commands.

I'm not sure I will read Newman's other books soon, but I do have them on my bookshelf so never say never!

This could be a 4.5
I really liked the plot and how the story made me feel like I was watching a movie but at the same time I feel like some of the plot felt unrealistic for a book that took place in a post 9/11 world.
fast-paced

Kind of like the movie Speed on a plane. Not anything miraculous but a good quick thriller to get me out of a reading lull.
