This book is slow-paced and it took me a while to read it. I thought that I would discount it for that, but after completing the book, I realized it was not lacking. So, I didn't fault it for that.

I would describe this book as a fire that has been going for a while. If you have tools like lighter fluid, the flame gets huge and without any aids, it takes a while to make a sustainable fire. However, this book was the sweet spot in the middle. The fire that has been keeping you warm throughout the night. I describe it this way because it was a sustained interest.

There was never a point where I wasn't interested in what was next. Even from the beginning. That applies to even the turn of the next chapter. The author wrote so well to make each new chapter feel as if it was the opening sentence. The characters had flaws, but it was never a distraction. The plot unfolded right on time. As a person who is anxious to get to the end of mysteries and the like, I didn't feel that with this one. I enjoyed it a lot.

SA Cosby has done it again. My second book by him and another winner though for very different reason from Razorblade Tears.

Love all the elementd - Small town, southern gothic crime thriller, an engaging lead, powerful themes and incredible writing. I can absolutely see this as a limited series or a movie and I would watch it in an instant - mainly to see if they can get Titus on the screen match up to the Titus I have in my head
