I remember thinking "Man all these rich people remind me of the rich people in the show You, specifically in Season 4" and I found myself actually not being that far off. I ended up being a little sad that Elliot was that shitty instead of being a character I could root for (even though I didn't really care for him at first).

I have enjoyed the author's previous books.  This one felt... dated and really just kind of meh.

a bit disappointing really. This had so much potential but it was painfully slow and so messy. We’re promised a gripping tale since the first page but it just keeps going back in time, it was overkill.
Also, the major spoiler for the silent patient in the epilogue was so uncalled for?? felt like fan service to me

as a regular novel i would rate this a 3 star but as a thriller/mystery it just didn’t really work for me. i predicted most of the “twists” which just seemed very obvious to me and it felt like nothing really happened until the last 50 pages. it was an easy read and i enjoyed the writing but that’s about all i liked, unfortunately.
