I enjoyed the book but I found Elliot’s story telling to be quite unsettling and I know that’s the point but I just didn’t enjoy it. I liked the twists but ultimately knew how it ended but I did like the link between the silent patient and this book in the epilogue.
I wasn’t sure about this book at first. It started off REALLY slow and I disliked all of the characters. But it does start to pick up at around 100 pages where it suddenly becomes very exciting and unputdownable. Not all readers have the patience for slow burn type thrillers such as this one, but I’m personally glad I pushed through because I enjoyed the twists immensely. I do want to warn readers that the style of this book is different. We see everything through the eyes of the one narrator and he’s extremely unlikable. I hate to say it but to me he was like a pesky fly that just won’t go away. Normally when I get annoyed by narrators, I stop reading but because this is a quick read I decided to read on despite my hesitations and I’m glad I did. The twists were great, the ending was even better, and I was SHOOK with how everything played out. Personally, I’d have loved to know what happened AFTER because I loathed many of the characters’ intentions, but the author still packed a punch with the shocking ending. Do I recommend it? Yes. But I do want to warn readers that it takes a little while to get there. Have some patience!

Comments on literally and theatrical cliches in a way that was too heavy handed to be tastefully meta. Has so many “twists” that they didn’t really land and the whole thing was somehow still predictable and not super impactful.

I was intrigued by the narration style when the books first started but after awhile it got annoying lmao. The plot itself was interesting but it was a very slow paced thriller.
