Honestly I am unsure of how I feel about this one. I, in part, really liked this. And in other parts I am just confused. I did not see a few of the twists coming. I would recommend.

Once again, I found Alex Michaelides' writing predictable and honestly dry. The book took a week to read and left me very little to contemplate.

This was an enjoyable quick read for me. The narrator gave big Humbert Humbert vibes in the way he spoke about Lana and the others, always setting himself up to be the victim of circumstance only to reveal more devious intentions as the story progressed. He really sleeved me out in the end

talking about how Lana was still with him always and it was a bit devastating to realize the poor woman would never escape him even after both of their deaths

. I was expecting a cliché little thriller and while it did have some familiar tropes it was a refreshing and interesting read.

This was extremely hard to rate, I loved the writing style and basic set up in the beginning was amazing but as it went on, I enjoyed the main narrator character a little unenjoyable to read from and after finished the book I had a hard time deciding if I liked it as a whole or not. I think it’s definitely better than middle than road but by how much will really depend on how much one enjoys the writing style

4.5. I honestly really enjoyed this book and it’s unreliable narrator. I was thrown off a little by how over dramatic and suspenseful the writing was in the middle, especially the chapter ending, but it made sense in the end. Recommend for a fun quick read.
