The writing style feels both overly flowery and juvenile. Like a first draft that has not been edited

I went into this not expecting much, Ben's usual writing tropes, etc. and I have to say I wasn't surprised. I see lots of complaints in the reviews about the way it's written and formatted with lots of ellipsis but I, thankfully, struggled my way through whatever the hell accent the narrator for the audio book had going on. For all his accent was weird, he basically carried the audiobook. If I had been left to read it I would have DNFd.

The smut comes before the plot and it took about 85% of the way through for the plot to show up, and it's because instead of writing one well thought out and edited book it's going to be a series.

Don't get me wrong, I'm gonna finish the series, but it was doing so much plot baiting that I was starting to mcfreakin lose it.

The initial betrayal was actually good and I feel like if Tairin(sp? Don't care I'm not checking they didn't even bother to check the love interests name in the Goodreads bio okay. It's Erix. Fucking. Erix. Gideon would have been so much cooler.) had actually been given time to kinda build up the tension would have been much higher.

Whatever. I still think Mr Biggus Dikkus Erix is hot and giving fae facial hair is god tier big brain shit. Gimme scruffy fae.

Also, Erix's hinted backstory was absolutely the inspiration for Ben's other book Alpha of Mortal Flesh so, like, I see you, Ben.

I don't think the writing is very good and it didn't grab my attention enough. I had to reread sentences because they didn't make sense on the first read.
