I genuinely laughed out loud while reading this. Some of the conversations Nicky has with his friends are the types of ridiculous and wild conversations I can imagine having with mine!! The "big reveal" was definitely predictable but even so I really enjoyed the ride there.

If you're looking for a funny take on superheroes I would definitely recommend this!

I thought the narration of a gay high schooler with ADHD was fresh and interesting. I hope kids find representation that speaks to them. As an adult reading a YA book I thought it was a fun, charming, easy read.

I've read reviews about the problematic handling of cops and blue-washing, and I think Klune's ability to hear and respond to that is commendable.

I enjoyed this - laughed out loud several times and you can tell the author is either heavily involved in fandom himself or knows someone that he could grill incessantly about it

However I found myself annoyed with the protagonist quite often and I find the older I get the less patience I have for miscommunication tropes and think the hot headed teen angle is tedious.

Overall I found this super amusing and sweet and I was incredibly amused by all the fandom references and even surprised by a few twists. I thought I had it all figured out but apparently not. Will definitely be reading the other two books in the series.

I would have DNFd it but I was committed to finished it. It read too much like a 13yr olds ‘nsfw’ fanfic but the kid doesn’t actually know what nsfw is. He mentions many times that he’s a prude and writes a lot of vomit, cringe inducing fanfic chapters in this book. Overall he’s a very flat character and really doesn’t have many facets to his development. Nick has 20/20 hindsight as mentioned in another comment and it makes the story rather boring and unrealistic. Not my favourite at all and unlike other non-faves I would NOT recommend this book to any potential readers.
