I think this book is better suited for reading physically where you can more easily flip and bookmark sections. While listening it did inspire me to what to start a few different projects I’ve contemplated for a bit.

This is a book aimed at professional artists who are mostly Wiccan. It could also be useful to any spiritual practitioner in general or for artists who do art as a hobby, not a career. This book gives realistic advice on how to incorporate magic into your art, such as lighting a candle or diffusing oils that correspond to your specific intention or using guided meditation. It gives historic and modern examples of artists who worked with spirits during their art process. The first half of the book was great but the second half fell off a bit. Overall, this book is very useful and a helpful guide to adding in witchcraft to your artistic practices.

I'm not quite the audience for this book, I am arty/creative but I don't practice Wicca or magick (though I can appreciate the practices)

That said, I really liked this book. There's a lot of talking about how to be more creative, and some practical activities/rituals to help you along

This isn't a manual, more of a creative pagan self help book, so if that's what you're after then it's ideal!

I received an advance copy for free from NetGalley, on the expectation that I would provide an honest review.

Omg I absolutely loved this book, it was interactive journaling within this which is sometimes so helpful. And journaling as an artist and healing practitioner/artist. The author opened up a door I necessarily didn’t think if tapping into or using for my creativity development. This is a book I can’t wait to get my hands on to work through the journaling activities.
I will also be gifting this to a few artist I know that struggle with creativity and this will give them a new venture to creativity.

This is an excellent book if you aspire to become an artist – or are already one – and want to add that extra »oomph« to your art with magick. The book leads through the various stages of producing or performing art of all kinds (writing, painting/drawing, arts and crafts, sculpturing, acting, dancing, music …) following the four elements and casting a circle in the end, from the whispers of inspiration until finishing the artwork or performance.
The books gives a short overview about deities and other spiritual entities who are associated with different kinds of art, for instance the Greek muses or the ibero-american »Duende« spirit.
Astrea Taylor has also written interesting chapters about creative spirits, egregores of your art and how you can work magickally with these entities. There are several exercises, spells and a guided meditation included.
There are also lots of very practical, down-to-earth tips and tricks about revisioning your art, releasing it into the world (if that is your intention), about dealing with positive and negative critique, about creative blocks and why breaks from creating art are beneficial.
A very recommendable book for artists and magical practitioners.

I am sadly not connecting to this book. Nothing so far has really resonated with me and I don’t see it getting better if I am not connecting this early in. I can see how this would be helpful for other people though but sadly, not me.
