I really liked it; however, at times it was kind of corny in terms of the dialogue and I felt like the ending was extremely rushed.  I just wish the book was a little bit longer so we could've spent some extra time with them after the fire. Otherwise, I really enjoyed it and I liked it a lot more than the other Sophie Lark book I have read "There Are No Saints Here".

I can see this book being absolutely perfect for romance readers who likes a true hate-to-love trope, with a dominant, brutal male lead, who sees his woman as his property. His to have, to own, but also to protect.

His (the male lead’s) way of thinking and behaving was a bit too problematic for me, though I know his way of being is exactly what some readers love.

It’s fast paced, has some truly headstrong characters, and lots of steam. If that’s your jam, you’re gonna love this book!

As well as not being my cup of tea, the plot was also a bit flat, but with 334 pages, a relationship and steam to focus on, I don’t see how a more elaborate plot would fit, to be fair.

The book gets bonus points for having illustrations in it (coloured illustrations if read on a tablet/phone, the paperback has b&w illustrations).

Overall, it didn’t wow me, but I think it’s definitely one of those books some readers might end up absolutely loving.

Going in to this book, I 100% thought I wouldn’t be the biggest fan. I’ve never been intrigued with the Mafia troupe or the arranged marriage troupe, but this had me eating it up.

The story moved so quickly and I found myself not wanting to put it down.

Callum and Aida had such amazing chemistry and banter. I loved how Aida acted and how she was just such a badass and independent character. Callum had a soft spot for her and it was obvious form the beginning, even if he acted all tough in the beginning.

I will definitely be continuing this series and hope to fall more in love with these characters.

<SPOILERS>

I can’t even lie, every event that happened in this book had me thinking how is that even possible.

From a fire in the beginning caused by Aida, to an arrangement made between the fathers that made Callum and Aida marry, to Aida being the cause of an allergic reaction and nearly killing her husband not even seconds after they married, to a mafia boss coming in and subtly threatening the safety of their lives, to Aida, Callum and her family nearly getting killed by that same Mafia boss, to Aida and Callum getting drugged and kidnapped by that same mafia boos and Aida somehow created a plan to get out of the captors control, to Aida being kidnapped by her psycho ex and nearly being burned alive, only for Callum to come in and save her.

A very action packed book that like I said had me eating it out of the palm of its hand.

Trust is rarer than love. It’s putting your fate, your happiness, your life in someone’s hands. Hoping they keep it safe.

This is my first Sophie Lark book, and honestly? I liked it. Her writing was good. She knows how to write real enemies to lovers romance (and not just other romance books who consider being irritated with each other "enemies to lovers").

I liked the dynamics of the Gallo family. I liked the banter between Cal and Aida. I liked that her characters are diverse. Both the romance and the smut were good.

I can't wait to read the rest of the series and her other books.
