A bit to drawn out

I thought this was a good read with some original ideas included. I liked the use of Fi's podcast and Bram's word document as point of view. Characters were well thought. I feel the book draws out too long with unnecessary padding, which could maybe fill in some of the missing bits, e.g. (where did Wendy go?) but the writing is good but not her best

I really enjoyed the premise of the book and how it was narrated through traditional third-person writing and also in snippets from a true-crime podcast and a Word document. There were several very clever twists as well. Unfortunately it was about 100 pages too long, most of the middle of the book was repetitive and a little boring. But, I'm glad I stuck with it for the ending.

Our House is a psychological book. There seems to be the other shoe just hanging out of reach. The reader knows that something is going to happen, there is some crazy and wonderful twist just around the next page. Louise Candlish did an amazing job keeping the reader wondering but giving them enough clues to keep them guessing as to where the story is going.

The chapters are written by Fiona, the wife, in a podcast form and Bram, the husband, in a letter form. They were both easy to follow, easy to understand, and enlightening as to what each were thinking at the time. I liked that I could know what each person was thinking when something was going on. It was also interesting to see how they perceived different events affecting each other. Bram seemed to know Fiona very good but he had kept many many secrets from Fiona that caused her view of him to not be quite so true to character.

Our House is on my list of the best of 2018. I could not put the book down, I was intrigued from the beginning, and was excited by the ending. This is a book that I will recommend over and over again to anyone and everyone who says hmm…what should I read next? The answer is easy Our House by Louise Candlish.

I'm conflicted. It's an original idea & I couldn't stop reading even when it bogged down, but I didn't love it. I hated all the characters & had times of confusion with so many characters & time lines, settings.... I took to using post it notes to mark chapter starts & time lines to look back on. Overall, I felt like there were tho many time lines to follow. And the ending..... not deadlight sure what happened. Did I miss something?
Still, it was a captivating read - as I said, even when annoyed, I couldn't give up on the book. Hmm...

I genuinely loved this book and the way it was written, the podcast style and the confession letter (not a spoiler as this is described in the first few pages). I just did not enjoy the ending I felt like after everything there was no PUNCH and after 400 pages I needed a bit of punch.

Very enjoyable British crime!

So. So so so good! Great sorry not only for its own sake but because the scenario can REALLY happen, and perhaps with today's technology is probably happening a lot.
It has everything: affairs, drunk driving, a podcast! murder, blackmail, fraud, and love.
Fi comes home. To find her house has been sold from under her and people are in the process of moving in! Her entire house has bee emptied of her furniture and all her (and her 2 son's) earthly possessions. Surprise! This is the first scene and it only gets better!
It's a long book and I was worried that the plot would lose steam after the main story was told, but there were some other twists and it was great up to the very end. In fact, I couldn't believe i was turning the last page! Fiona, our main heroine and sufferee, gets Woman of the Year in my book. She was amazing in h e goodness. Just as Bram, her husband, was amazing in his pathetic tragedy - ness. The plot is really twisted and convoluted in all the best ways. Read it and enjoy!
