This was good! I’ll admit at first I wasn’t sold on it, but by the time I was around half way through, it really started to pick up and come together and I thought it was fantastic! I definitely will read the sequel when it comes out. I think if you’re a Marvel/superhero fan you would enjoy this book. It’s definitely a made for movie and fandom lovers, very geeky. Definitely written in a younger YA style, but at the same time has a decent amount of violence, which isn’t a bad thing. I just had to remind myself that I’m not a 17 year old

(Full confession: I finished We Could be Villians about a month ago, and am finally writing the review now. So sorry if it's a little sparse!)

Marvel fans, this book is for you.

Megan McCullough has crafted a novel that superhero fans will adore. From the characters avoiding spoilers and crafting their own movie theories to the cinematographic feel of the scenes, We Could be Villians comes alive on the page.

I liked how Megan balanced the spy/espionage/superhero elements of We Could be Villians with parts of ordinary life, like school musicals and jobs. The theater references were also super fun.

The characters were well done, and I can't wait to get to know them more in future books.

There's a part of me that would have really liked to read We Could be Villians with no knowledge of what the story was about, and experience the surprise of every revelation just like Rosemary did. For instance, if you read the blurb, you know that Ironfall and Vigil & Ante are real. But it would have been fun to experience the surprise of discovering that.

Megan has me eagerly awaiting the next Vigil & Ante Files after that ending, and I look forward to seeing what she writes next.

Cautions: moderate violence; light romance; one kiss

a fun adventure

Being a fan of Marvel and DC, this book was definitely appealing to me. The story sounded interesting and I really liked these characters, especially IronFall.

For a first time author, this isn’t too bad. It was slow at first and a lot was happening but I really wanted more time spent fleshing out the characters. There was a lot of telling and not really showing. There were a few errors I caught too that could have easily been corrected.

I kept telling myself to suspend my disbelief because like a big blockbuster supe film, there is a lot of stuff that happens and you just go with the flow. Although I wanted more details about some of the stuff that happened, I just went with it because I wanted to see how it would conclude. I also loved the transcripts between chapters.

I’m interested in reading what happens next. I hope the author keeps improving in her writing. It’s not terrible but could use some polishing so to speak. Overall I enjoyed this book and that cliffhanger ending! Lol! Well played ma’am.

I have no words—this book took me by total surprise!

Full disclosure: I am not a superhero or a Marvel fan, but having followed Megan on Instagram and seeing some fantastic things about the story, I decided to try it!

The plot is twisty, engaging, and suspenseful, full of intrigue in the heart of NYC. I love a good spy/mystery adventure!

As for the characters, I adored them!!
•Sam is a hoot
•Ver is awesome
•Dad Liam is the best
•No-nonsense Manda
•Rosemary is relatable and brave
•Ironfall is rather morally grey and yet there’s something redeemable about him. My heart goes out to him!

The found family angle is so beautiful and has my heart! The laughs, the high stakes, the heart of this story blew me away in the best of ways!

The ending resolved just enough to be satisfying while leaving a cliffhanger that has me eagerly awaiting the next book!
