Again, I really enjoyed reading about life in Egypt during the Nineteenth Dynasty, and it was more enjoyable reading the POV of the person in the center of the action rather than a peripheral character, as Mutnodjnet was to Nerfertiti.

That said, the romance between Ramesses and Nefertari started to eclipse the rest of the story as the book progressed, and while I enjoyed it, I would have preferred it didn't feel as prominently placed as it was.

Now I really want to go back to the MMA and spend an entire day in the Egyptian wing...

I discovered this author when I read Cleopatra's Daughter, this book read as a historical romance. Too light.

Downsides: It was a little soap-operaish.
The character of Ramses was a little difficult to believe. I wanted to slap him quite frequently and say, "Pick a side!" "Or at least realize there is a side to pick!"

Upsides: It was interesting, and I still read it quickly. I like the historical information I pick up from reading about a world so completely different from anything I've known.

I loved this book from the start. The writing style is right up my alley, appropriately descriptive without being excessive, with lots of dialogue. This was my first novel from the Egyptian culture and the days of the great rulers. I wondered what I would think of such a storyline. I found I loved it!

This is the story of Princess Nefertari, most of the storyline taking place before she became queen. The author took a lot of liberties with the storyline, since there are so many gaps in Egyptian history. In this story, Nefertari is the niece of the deceased Queen Nefertiti, who was viewed, along with her husband, the Egyptian Pharaoh Akhenaten, as a heretic for turning against the Egyptian gods and worshiping only the sun god Aten.

So when Princess Nefertari becomes the wife of Pharaoh Ramesses II, the people and court are not happy with a relative of Nefertiti on the throne, as Nefertari is cursed to carry her family's reputation as a "heretic". However with the support of Ramesses' aunt Woserit, a high priestess, and driven by a fiery and determined nature that takes her into battle with her husband, Nefertari goes on to become the queen of Egypt, and known by the people as the Warrior Queen instead of the Heretic Queen.

This was a very enjoyable read, full of adventure and excitement and intrigue. I would highly recommend it.

Loved this book. I've never really read much about Egyptian history, but I am extremely intrigued to learn more. Her style of writing is really good. This is a great historical fiction chick lit book. Love it.

Very entertaining! Nefertari's journey from a leftover princess to the chief wife of Ramasses and queen of his heart is very interesting, and not a difficult read. The political aspects of the novel are a little lightweight and uncomplicated, but still a decent read.

It was a good refresher from the usual books based on mythology, Egyptian or otherwise. The author has taken a few liberties altering certain historical relationships but still quite a good read. I do recommend it to all those who enjoy historical fiction or are interested in Egyptian mythology.
