I liked this book. It was well-written, had interesting characters, and lots of action. I would have given it 4 stars, but the author's hints were so blatantly obvious it spoiled any need on my part to guess whodunit.

I have been a fan of Claire Boston since I read What Goes on Tour (LOVE you Adrian!) and so I’m always excited to get a chance to read one of her books. She does a great job of delivering not only a dang good love story but also creating a dynamic world full of interesting characters. Occasionally she likes to throw in some suspense or danger just to keep you on your toes ;)

With Nothing to Fear we get a group of friends that have been together for decades and they are still there to support one another every day. That connection has helped prop up Hannah since her father murdered her mother and assaulted in college. She’s managed to keep the latter a secret but she’s relied on her friends to keep her going. Now there’s a threat and she going to have to face her past whether she’s ready or not.

Ryan is new in town and finds himself drawn to Hannah. Obviously something has happened to her to make her so skittish but he’s such a patient man that he’s willing to wait her out. He’s had a history of his own so it helps him understand exactly what she needs.

While the love story and Hannah coming to terms with her past is very well done, add in the mystery of who is leaving her gifts and I couldn’t turn pages fast enough! Boston does a great job of balancing both and keeping your attention until you get to the bitter end. It’s not an easy journey for Hannah but with her support in place and by listening to both her head & her heart she can overcome anything.

*** I voluntarily read a Review Copy of this book. All opinions stated are solely my own and no one else’s. ***

very well written thriller, with a hint of romance. just a couple things bugged me, but these were minor. the way the hero is so patient and gentle with the MC was my favorite part. and the kid is great-saying a lot coming from me, as im really not a kid person.
I would recommend reading this, and am interested in the next book.

A great debut romantic suspense. With a great trauma behind her, we feel for Hannah as she's afraid all the time but she hides it away. But she has to face the fears when she's threatened despite always having her big dog with her always.

Hannah relives and goes through a lot in this book and we see her grow more and more angry, and more and more determined to face her fears and live her life. Ryan helps Hannah. He's a lovely character who has also been through a lot. While attracted to Hannah he has a young son to Felix think of, who is an adorable kid.

A tale of learning to trust again and to overcome crippling fear. It's about the love of family and great friends, and leaning on the other. But also about murder, guilt, and grief. The mounting tension in both the romance and suspense is done well.

I fell in love with the characters and the small town and am looking forward to returning.

Disclaimer: while I personally know the author, this doesn't affect the star rating.

Hannah Novak lives a quiet life but she has plans to renovate cabins and open them as a resort.  She has three really close girlfriends, but only one knows her secret.  Ryan Kilpatrick has returned to Blackbridge with his eight-year old son.  He wants a slower paced life in a smaller town where he can spend more time with his son.  He rents one of the cabins that Hannah has renovated.  He notices that she seems afraid of him which he finds troubling.  He works for the Sheriff's Office.  He ends up working on her case when she starts receiving gifts and there is damage to one of the cottages she is remodeling.  Hannah and Ryan reluctantly begin a relationship.  I enjoyed the slow progression of their attraction.  Ryan was very patient with Hannah and her issues.  Hannah was very loving with his son.  A solid romantic suspense tale.

I couldn't really get into this book. I didn't really connect with any of the characters. There were too many bad guys, and each one was pretty obvious. I think I went into the book thinking it was going to be a different kind of book than it really was.

Content warnings for BOOK: rape, date rape, domestic abuse.

I wasn't aware when I began reading that it would include as much as it did. I may not have read it, if there had been content warnings.

The stalker was easy to figure out.

I like Hannah. She's a strong, couragous, and independent woman, who knows when to let her friends help her.
