This book was great! The mystery increases, you feel satisfied as hell when things click into place and you figure out parts of it. Good mix of quirky characters, silliness, and good mystery.

I think the character development improves from the previous book:
- David still sucks, but he’s a bit more understandable…until the end (literally wtf was that??)
- Nate is still the best, closely followed by Larry, the security guard, and for some reason Mudge is up there (even though he’s a very minor character so far).
- Janelle is finally included a bit more and Vi is also developed better than just being a staple LGBTQIA+ representation for the sake of it
- Hunter & Fenton are great additions to the story

They are all definitely teenagers with how they emotionally respond to things, which is to say, mostly immaturely - which is sometimes annoying but it’s well written. Genuinely this was just a good read and I am excited for the next one!

Best book in the trilogy. Here Stevie solved the old mystery. New mystery will be solved in the next book. Hunter was a good addition to the series.

Y’all I honestly don’t know what to think about what I just read. Someone died again! Basically this “corrupt” politician uses his money powers and puts our little baddie back into Ellingham, yay! Ig. She then gets back with her friends: David, vi, Janelle, and I don’t even want to say his name because the pick me people who love Nate will come after me but Nate, is the worst character to ever be written in history. Ellie ran away in the first book, she dies. Of course. This book honestly really was boring in my opinion. I recommend just reading the first book in this series: Truly Devious. It’s so good. But this book just wasn’t it. :/

Loved this as much as Bk1.  Sadly #3 is not available as audio via Wheelers, so i might have to read it on paper.  I liked having this on my phone in my pocket and will continue with my next audiobook.
Saw something on my socials on the weekend that said if you love Pippa from "Good Girl's guide to Murder" you would probably like Stevie Bell from this series.  I had already made the connection and am planning to recommend this series to the 14yo readers who enjoy Holly Jackson, and perhaps also Jennifer Lynn Barnes.  I especially like the back and forth between 1937/8 and the present. A great mystery without too much to confront teen readers.

I actually give this book 3.75 stars. I loved the way the plot moved, it had so many twists I got whiplash in a good way, and it had no annoying or cringy moments. I simple wish we had more of the 1930s timeline in this book to help connect things instead of massive jumps in the book. I really have big hopes for the hand on the wall!

This book is a solid 3.5 stars.

Another 4.5 star read! Definitely a little darker than the first one, and one part of the book messed with my head too much
