Sarah Silverman is known for her dirty humor, and that's mostly what you get in this book. I like that she managed to discuss some of the more serious issues in her life, like her depression, in a more serious tone. I think that's why I liked the book, it managed to be both funny and serious. I found some stories boring, which is why I didn't rate the book any higher. I also found the Afterword kind of stupid.
It wasn't a bad book. I just fell out of my reading schedule.
much like chelsea handler, i find sarah silverman kind of annoying in real life but as an author she's hysterical. she's also very intelligent. lots of good jokes, mantras, and life lessons in this book.
funny
lighthearted
reflective
fast-paced
Still trying to get my footing after Call the Midwife to find another good book. I live in Florida and there was Tropical Storm Colin waltzing through my state yesterday. Lots of rain means reading in my bed. I've had The Bedwetter on my TBR shelf for at least two years and I couldn't manage to part with it until I read the book. I bought it at Big Lots for $3 and it lived up to it's price tag. There were some poignant moments about Sarah's legitimate struggles with wetting the bed until high school and depression, but it mostly described her career until 2010 when the book was published.
I think Sarah Silverman is pretty and I commend her for being a comedienne in an otherwise male dominated field. Her jokes were a bit too vulgar for me, like rape or racial commentary, but I did laugh out loud at some fart jokes. I'm glad I read another celebrity memoir, but it definitely was not my favorite. This book may be six years old, but at least I learned about her childhood and kindness that I would never have previously known. Currently, her romantic partner is Michael Sheen and she voices the Pesto twins with her sister Laura on Bob's Burgers. If this book was published now, I would have been much more interested.

I don't recommend this book unless you're an enormous fan of Sarah Silverman or you're not easily offended. Unfortunately, I was neither.

I listened to the audiobook version, read by Silverman. This book was very uneven- some parts were pee-in-your-pants funny, and other parts just dragged. It also isn't linear- she jumps back and forth in time, often referencing the same incident/time period in several chapters. It got a bit confusing. I did admire how honest the author was about things like her bedwetting issues, but other parts provided far too much detail on subjects that quickly became tiresome. Overall, an enjoyable quick listen that made me laugh out loud in many places.
First book that I was able to finish in a reasonable amount of time since the last time I read a Dan Brown book, so it must have been good to me. I would guess that you have to like Sarah Silverman's humor to like her book, and I do know several people I've encountered don't enjoy her, but I LOVE HER. There were hilarious parts, and serious parts. All serious parts were interjected with humor. It was an easy read and went quickly and I was sad when it was over, especially now that her show is canceled. I didn't learn anything life changing, but I loved it. If you are offended easily, don't read it.
So Ms. Silverman and I have stepmoms with the same name!
This proves what I've known all along: the best stepmoms are named Janice

As good or better than Mindy Kaling's but not as funny as Tina Fey.
I prefer what I know of Sarah as a person/personality than what I know of Sarah's jokes (it's so weird to write in third person about someone with the same name as yourself). I found this engaging, but ultimately I think "it was OK" sums it up, so, two stars.
