I found the topic of this book, and Didion's reporting on it, very interesting. I thought the part where she discusses her own book within it was a little confusing and unnecessary, although maybe if I had read the book I would be more understanding. Generally really solid.

I still like Joan Didion and admire her nonfiction, but I think my fan girl love affair with her is over. Maybe I’ll pick up one of her novels in the next few months.

I read this while sitting in the car and driving through Montana; although this is a different state it felt as though every overheard conversation and building reflected Didion’s words. This was an incredible and beautiful reflection on the things we bring with us as we grow up.
