While not quite as engrossing as Mr. Mercedes, the first book in this trilogy, Finders Keepers is a pretty taut and thrilling book. Focusing more on original characters rather than Bill, Holly, and Jerome, I did find myself more engaged when that trio appeared, but eventually came around to the battle between Pete and Morris. Stephen King really does a great job with young protagonists. Pete has his heart in the right place, but unwittingly got mixed up in something too sinister than he is equipped to deal with. Once this book gets moving — especially as it nears its breathless conclusion — it becomes a pretty decent follow up. I am excited to get to End of Watch here next month!
