(Lydbog)

Brilliant roman.

This book really was a step down from the last. A lot of it has to do with the main POV characters of Peter and Morris. First, Morris just isn't as great a villain as Brady was. Brady's POV was to me the best part of the previous novel. It was just so entertaining to get into the mind of a psychopathic deranged unhinged crazy man in an ice cream truck.

Morris is pretty crazy, but he just isn't as 'fun' to read about as Brady. He really pales in comparison in Brady, who simply was a MUCH more compelling character.

Peter was pretty 'basic' for lack of a better word. While he was sympathetic and clever at the beginning, he slowly just got less interesting. He showed a good amount of intelligence at the start of the book, and I thought that he would use his wits more against Morris, but he actually lacks a lot of common sense by the end and
has to be rescued by Hodges, Holly, and Jerome

Really, the characters of the previous book were way more fun and better written. I looked for the scenes of Hodges, Holly, Jerome,
and Brady
and the Peter and Morris just pale in comparison to the original cast.

The summary of the book made me think we were going to get a cat and mouse plot about a kid trying to survive a crazy killer, like a Terminator 2 type plot. But most of the book takes place in the past and we don't get to the cat and mouse game till really last second. So, really the plot was so much slower compared to the high pace intensity of Mr. Mercdes.

Just a step down, I really felt this book was weak on characters and structure. However, the ending does give me hope for the final book. We will see!
