Perturbador. Deixou-me a pensar.

Inquietante, estranho e soturnamente brilhante.

Jamie Morton is six years old when he first meets reverend Charlie Jacobs. The shadow cast by the young man envelopes the little boy, and in that darkness their lives connect.
Reverend Jacobs and his family brings life, activity, and music to the little community and he tries to fascinate them all, without any major success, in his great passion - electricity.
When misfortune strikes and Jamie's brother loses his voice, Jacobs comes to the rescue with an electric device and the brother can talk again. The miracle however, was followed by tragedy and the reverend soon leaves town.
The next time they meet, Jamie is in his thirties and in a bad state. They revive their friendship and the now former reverend is more than before obsessed by his passion, the hidden power, the hidden electricity. And the search for the truth is far from over.

This book is great, it is dark and yet so wonderfully real. King knows how to tell a story and the impossible doesn't seem so far from the truth, and it's nice to be scared by him.

The first section of this book, Jaimie’s Childhood, I enjoyed.
However, Jaimie’s life as a drug-addicted guitar player was boring and it becomes mind-numbingly boring in his sober years. Basically, Jaimie is an uninteresting adult person and the story should have followed Charles Jacobs who actually lived a very interesting life and was the only interesting thing about Jaimie’s life. However, somewhere between Jaimie’s healing and the tent revival version of Jacobs SOMETHING HAPPENED to Charles Jacobs and his character changes completely. We don’t know why. Obsession? Long-term survivors guilt and grief? Whatever the reason, he’s off the deep end. I thought we were headed for a Pet Cematary like conclusion, but instead we get a one horrific glimpse at the other side. No, thank you to this whole ending. It wasn’t scary, it was depressing. Nihilistic. Hopeless. My least favorite Stephen King novel to date. I had no idea he could be boring.
