this book actually surprised me. i was so bored in the beginning and it took me a little bit to read, but the ending of this story is so worth the read. i gave it 3.75 stars but rounded up. the last few pages had me tearing up. it was well worth the read. i definitely recommend even if you're not into disney. the story took a completely different path from the original story (as proven by the name "twisted tale") but you won't regret the read.

This was the first of the Twisted Tales series that I read and I enjoyed it. The story is very close to the original story (which I enjoyed reading some of the little details in the movie you may not have noticed) but with a couple twists. While I still would have liked a little bit more, I liked there being more depth between Snow and her prince before “the kiss” and learning more about the Evil Queen’s past. If you’re looking for a quick, fun, retelling of the Snow White story - I definitely recommend you read this!

Second that I have read in the Twisted tales series. I enjoyed the backstory of the characters as well as the relationships built throughout. Another easy read.

This has been my favorite book in the series, and that's a pleasant surprise. Snow White might be my least favorite princess, but I really liked her in this book. And I loved getting The Evil Queen's perspective as well.

this is the first in the twisted tales series for me! overall, i did very much enjoy this book :)
however, there are trigger warnings of: murder, attempted murder and poison
with that being said, i do feel as if this was read as if it were almost a middle grade book or at least targeted towards the younger end of the YA spectrum.
now for the story. i loved reading the POVs of Snow and the Evil Queen. I was incredibly enthralled by their descriptions and their thoughts and their back stories as how they came to be as they are while still remaining true to the original film. but this was far more interesting because the characters actually had dialogues!!

So, definitely a few things I like better about this twisted tale than the original story . . .

1. Snow White is 17 years old and closer to adulthood than the 14 year old child she is in the original story.
2. Snow is a fighter in this tale (which may have something to do with her age

One of my first thoughts when I started reading this was 'Is this book making me feel for the villain?', and I've got to say, I really was feeling for her for a while. Her young self, anyway. After that, it was still intriguing to explore her side of the story.
As for Snow's side, it was quite interesting to explore as well, especially with all the substance it adds to the rather simple Snow White story as told by Disney back in 1937. I particularly appreciated the way her romance with the prince is given actual time to develop here: you know what they say, 'A couple that stages a coup together stays together'. The whole staging-a-coup plot point was also something I really enjoyed, which reminded me of A Whole New World where I was also a big fan of a similar part of the story.
All in all, this has been a solid 4.5* read in my books.
