I must admit that I didn't wholly enjoy reading this book and found myself skimming chapters, racing toward the end.
Originally, I envisaged myself enjoying the premise and the setting: a group of four friends hiking in the Scandinavian wilderness. While the setting was descriptive and brought to life effectively, I found the 'girl gang's' personalities to be stereotypical and uninspired.
The ending I found to be contrived. I was unsurprised that, given one particular character's backstory, the author would bestow a tragic fate upon her.
Overall, I found this read to be underwhelming, but the writing was satisfying and enjoyable in places. I would chance another Lucy Clarke book in future.
