Moni’s lil’ spoiler free thoughts:
Scarlett St. Clair, A Touch of Darkness

“They say Hades is protective of his realm, and while that is true, it isn’t about power. He cares for his people, protects them, and he takes it personally if anyone is harmed. If you belong to him, he will tear the world apart to save you.”

Been on a Greek mythology kick and this was a fantastic read that I devoured in one day. A modern take on the story of Hades and Persephone that will suck you right in. Key points: Retelling of Greek Mythology. Forbidden love. Slow-burn enemies to lovers. Spice. Bargains and fate.

On to A Game of Fate….book one in Hades perspective. 5/5⭐️s

Good pining, very few frustrating plot devices. Characters were consistent in their personalities and desires. Spice not overly indulgent, though the narrator tries to remedy that to mixed results.

It’s feels like a fan fiction from both Fifty shades of Grey and After.

The similarities to Lore Olympus were a bit too much for me. I had a hard time not picturing the LO depictions of the characters as I read. I'm not well versed in greek mythology, so many of the elements I thought were too similar to LO are, upon further research, 'canon', for lack of a better phrase.

It is definitely a steamy book, but some of the writing got repetitive after a while.

I liked it enough to see where the other books in the series go. Not a book I'd reread (which is how I rate my fav books).

To that one person on booktok who gaslit me to thinking this was a triology.... you are not my favourite person right now.

The way i breezed right through this book.....

The world building, the characters, the HadesxPersephone storyline and the consistency..... this book was giving!

I knew this book will have me finishing the series before i know it only to realise there are 6 books in the series?!?! (cries)

So now I'm really wondering why on earth i started this series and hating myself for not doing my due research.
