I like Scarlett Saint Clair's writing. This book was fairly silly and spicy. I enjoyed myself even though I found the lack of communication a bit juvenile and annoying.

Exactly the somewhat shallow and cheesy romance I expected. Not horrible but I still have no idea how this is so much more popular than many others of its kind.

This book was quite enjoyable and a perfect summer book to read when you want to unwind. The pace was fast and the plot was engaging, however, there are parts that could have been developed further. Personally, I found Persephone quite irritating at times. As someone who should be able to hold their prejudice, she seemed to be unable to see through the complexity of Hades making deals with mortals, staying stubborn for way too long and realising her prejudice way too late (I understand that this is mostly was done for the plot, but it just felt strange, especially when she is painted to be an intelligent character). In general, I think it would be interesting if characters had more complexity to them and did not fall so much into the clichés. Also, I found it strange how in the middle of the book, Demeter was so oblivious to the magazines covering the story about Hades and his lover (that was obviously Persephone)… if she is so possessive and was aware of other doings, why did she allow Persephone continue on during that time? I think these things, amongst some others, undermined the potential of the book, but that’s not to say that I won’t be picking the next ones in the series.

2.5. Had the greatest potential but why miscommunication trope?!
