I enjoyed this book but I felt there was a lot of things unanswered. I feel that this relationship is more toxic and controlling than a love affair. She can't speak to men but he can? We'll see in the next book.
3.5/ Finally I have read it. Hmm 50 Shades, I guess I can see some similarities. Rich, damaged beautiful men living in big cities after women with very similar names. Eva wasn't nearly so innocent and had a lot of baggage. Gideon was bossy but not Dom. Sure he had a bit of kink to him.
The back and forth between G & E is a bit much. She has seriously got to get over the jealousy or they will surely burn out. I think I like Eva's family more than her. I love Cary I think the most out of all the characters.
Will I continue on with the series, of course. Will it be my favorite? Probably not. Is it 50 Shades, to me, No. I read 50 a while ago and thought it was really good. I have read a lot since so my opinion of it may have changed but this book is more drama, no BDSM.

Let's get one thing out the way, Sylvia Day writes one hell of a sex scene. It can be an issue with erotic romance, that it gets either the erotica or the romance right but not both. Here Day does a great job with the erotica but there is nothing romantic about this story. There is no humor, or sweetness or respect in this relationship. There is no love. This is one big co-dependent obsession-fest. Other than the scorching sex, the fun boss, and the good clothes there is nothing here anyone should want. Love looks different to everyone, but I say from experience that if it ever looks like this, if someone ever reads your emails, or copies your house key, without permission, if someone tells you whom you may and may not see, if someone is constantly asking for you to pledge allegiance to him then run. For those who read 50SOG these people make Christian Grey seem like a paragon of charm and mental health. 5-star for the erotica 1-star for the romance =3-stars
Good read
I enjoyed the book but found myself wishing she was less discriptive. A lot of the time i thought "i get you're sad, what happens next" but over all a very good story i will read the next one

I was shocked by how much I loved this novel. I thought I was gonna hate it. I thought I was gonna loathe it. But the writing is perfect, the characters are believable and relatable. I'm just surprised Eva and Gideon didn't get concussions from the insane about of anger/possessive fucking they were doing. Her poor taco, man. His poor bonersaurus rex.
I thought this was gonna be like a better written crock o shit like Fifty Shades of Grey but I was sooo wrong. Gideon is just possessive and so is Eva. And Eva had a fucking backbone, man. Bitch slapped him before another romp.
Dear Gideon,

But, unfortunately, my sex life consists of.... nothing.

"I must've wished for you so hard and so often you had no choice but to come true."
Wow...just, wow! I have never read a romance novel and this was quite the experience. Eva is my hero(ine). Gutsy and and yet not. Gideon is just plain hot. I’ve never read anything like it so I’m not sure how it compares to other novels like Fifty Shades of Grey. I did enjoy it though and I think I may even read a few more in the series. If you’re looking for a sexy poolside/beach read, the Crossfire series might just be what you’re looking for. I read the Kindle version so I have no idea what the cover looks like, but I’m guessing it’d turn heads in an airport. I would recommend this to both women and men, single or coupled, it’s a fun, quick read.

I wouldn’t agree in that it’s better than 50 Shades. Definitely spicier and better smut but overall, I found that things moved way too fast with almost no build up whatsoever (which I didn’t enjoy). It was a messy and disorganized plot line for me, I found myself confused a lot, and predictable in a lot of ways.
