I wouldn’t agree in that it’s better than 50 Shades. Definitely spicier and better smut but overall, I found that things moved way too fast with almost no build up whatsoever (which I didn’t enjoy). It was a messy and disorganized plot line for me, I found myself confused a lot, and predictable in a lot of ways.
This is in the same vein as Fifty Shades. I will be interested to read the next book to see if I grow to care for these characters.

This was an intense and passionate romance that keeps you hooked with its compelling chemistry between the lead characters. While the writing is engaging, some of the emotional turmoil felt a bit repetitive at times, which may deter certain readers. There were incredibly cringy moments which took me out of the story. But it was decent overall.

Bared To You is the first book in the Crossfire series. In this book we are introduced to our main characters and given some background introduction. Eva Tramell is a socialite, who lives like a normal as much as possible. Eva and her best friend Cary live together.
Eva and Cary both have dark pasts. They met through therapy years ago in California and have been inseparable since. Bad things have happened to them and through this they both suffer with relationships.
Embarking on a new adventure, the two move to New York. With Eva's past, there is always a chance it could come back to haunt her. Because of this it makes her mother overly protective. This is the reason for her new apartment being a high rise with extra security, among other things. She wants freedom and tries to get it any way she can. Things like not taking a job her rich step-father wants for her, but instead accepting a entry level job at Waters Field & Leaman Ad agency in the Crossfire Tower.
A chance meeting with a dark and dangerous looking man will change everything.
Gideon Cross is a young, sexy, billionaire business mongrel. He has a very dark past. One that has controlled his entire life. He doesn't date. EVER. He is always in control. He exudes power and sex appeal.
When he notices a blonde entering his building, he is immediately drawn to her. He must have her, conquer her, possess her. He has never felt this before. NEVER. He has to know why. He needs to be inside her.
This is where our story in book one begins. Let me tell you this book is an deep seated emotional read. It is so intense and powerful it will draw you in and captivate you. I am on a non stop binge reading in this series. I can't seem to put it down. I am so enthralled with the story. This book series puts Fifty Shades to shame. You though Mr. Grey was possessive and intense. Mr. Gray has nothing on Gideon cross. NOTHING! Mr. Cross is deeply intense and the sex appeal level is out of this world. Damn that man is fine!
With the intense push and pull of their relationship, I am not sure if these two will be able to pull this off and survive each other. The possessiveness is strong and sometimes very overboard. Gideon Cross not only wants Eva's body, but he wants to consume everything she is. Mind, body and soul. This last book ends in a uneasy way for Eva, with Cary really screwing up. In more ways than one. Combine that with Gideon's screwup and you are left begging for the story to continue. Which it does in book 2 Reflected In You. So read on people. You have got to read this series.

Is there any other way to assert the dominating streak of the male character than to make the female character stumble and fall into his arms???
Apart from this peeve, I quite liked the book, she is a bit bipolar, shifting from self asserted and taking the upper hand, to whiny and with tons of self esteem issues.
Still, it was written muuuch better than 50 shades, but I definitely see the parallels

2.5 stars, I guess.
I would probably have rated this higher if I had not already read 50 Shades. The writing is better. But the story is the same (with a few minor changes). Disappointing.

For those of us who read the Fifty Shades series, you notice very early on some obvious similarities to the Crossfire series. However, this will not keep you from enjoying the book. I agree with other review(er)s that this series is better written so far. There is also no BDSM element which was a turn off for some readers of the Fifty Shades series.
In Bared to You, we meet Gideon and Eva. Gideon is a young, rich, powerful, entrepreneur with a tormented past. Eva is young and spunky but she also is battling demons from her past that still haunt her and influence her life. This is the major deviation from Fifty Shades; both of the main characters have serious mental/emotional issues that hinder their relationship. The physical attraction between the two of them is almost instantaneous. It takes a good deal more work to make the rest of their relationship work. Gideon is willing to put in the effort to have a relationship, something he has never done before. Eva says she wants to have a relationship but she runs at the first whiff of trouble or whenever something makes her uncomfortable.
Can two abuse victims have a normal, functional relationship? I guess it depends on the definition of normal.
Bared to You does give us some good character development. You get a feel for the characters and how their pasts have played a major role in the making them the people they are today. You can’t really help but want Gideon and Eve’s relationship to work but the fast and furious development of their relationship does not seem to be in their best interest considering their pasts, at this point, but time will tell.

Started off good, about half way through it was a big snooze fest. What a toxic relationship. They were either fighting or f*cking. The characters were sooooo unlikeable. I couldn't wait to finish it so I skimmed the last two chapters because I couldn't be bothered.
