I picked up this book randomly and it’s shot itself towards the top of my favorites for the year! Gene, a trans man on a minor league baseball team, is working to make it to the major leagues, all while not letting his old college rival, Luis, distract him from his goal.

Lots of fun forced proximity, idiots in love, and queer joy. ❤️ Knowing baseball helps but you don’t need to know the terms to enjoy this to the fullest extent. SO incredibly wholesome and hopeful. ❤️❤️❤️

i have been trying for days to figure out what to say about this book and i keep coming up short. KT Hoffman tore me wide open by page 77 and only continued to see through to my soul.

this book is so optimistic and hopeful. an absolute salve in a dark time. i loved all the characters, loved the plot, loved the baseball even. i have nothing bad to say about this book. instead, i can only flail happily.
