Holly Jakson's YA thrillers are the only one's I still reach out for even though I have moved on to adult thrillers, she has a way of bringing improbable stories to life and make them plausible. Rachel Price, very much like AGGGTM keeps you engaged while simultaneously pumping out jaw dropping twists. Rachel Price disappeared into thin air when Bel was a baby, abandoned in a car on the roadside from where Rachel seem to be disappeared BUT she reappears on a random day and comes back into Bell's life. Bell doesn't seem to be convinced about her mother's escape story as she finds some inaccuracies and she is determined to unravel everything Rachel has been hiding!
Oh! did I love Bell's character? absolutely! She is flawed, has a very well developed complex character with so many layers and depth. I love how believably matured Holly's young characters are in her books, I might have loved Pip a tad bit more but Bell is nothing short of a well crafter character. The pacing felt little slow in the beginning as if it was building up tension for everything to explode in the reader's face later on, once the plot picks up the twists just keep coming and I ate them up however far fetched they seemed.There is a minimal romance that is equal parts adorable and heartwarming, although it is not like in AGGGTM it was still quite enjoyable. I am so excited to explore more HJ's books in the future as she drops them
The audiobooks of AGGGTM were some of the best audio productions for me personally and I chose to read this book on audio for similar reason. I absolutely enjoyed it, Sophie Amoss's narration held the tension for me quite well.
