The Stowaway is a horrific and graphic story of a serial killer of young children. It is a story of a trial of a man who the public was convinced was the killer but whom one juror could not convict with no DNA evidence and no consistent eyewitness evidence. When Wyatt Butler is set free Maria Fontana, the head of Psychology at Columbia Univ, who was on the jury thinks her sleepless nights are finally over. It is a year or so later and she and her family are on a two-week trans-Atlantic cruise when horrific murders, remarkably like those thought committed by Butler begin to occur. Maria is convinced that it is Wyatt, but the head of security isn’t so sure. Maria must depend on her expertise in psychology to try and understand what the killer is doing – her life and her children’s lives depend on her reading the killer correctly.

What a good time (not for any of the characters in the book, mind you). It was fast paced, gruesome and suspenseful. Not the most innovative or well written book but throughly enjoyable!

The only thing I really didn't like about this book was that the victims were children. The authors didn't need to get that grisly with it. Otherwise, totally devoured this book!

Thank you to Netgalley for letting letting read an advanced copy in exchange for an honest review.
The Stowaway follows Maria, a mom of two who was on a jury to decide whether or not a man was guilty of being a child serial killer. The man is found not guilty and released, and Maria is harassed after she makes a statement saying she was the deciding voter who voted not guilty. Almost two years after, she and her kids and her fiance decide to go on a cruise. Once the ship has departed, people start dying. Maria believes this is the work of the man who was on trial and decides to prove it.

I really liked this book. Be aware, there are descriptions of dead children and murder as well as desecration. The deaths were pretty gruesome as were the findings of the bodies. If you like serial killer, crime, mystery or thriller books, pick this one up and read it. It's on the shorter end and the chapters are short as well. I enjoyed it and I am looking forward to reading more by these authors.

I’ve never read a book by these authors, but would again.  It was an interesting plot and a good thriller.

I think I might just not be on the same level as everyone else on the recent new releases. This is no exception. I chose it because it had great reviews by several of my favorite reviewers, but I just didn't get it. It was predictable.

I might give it another try some other time, but I might just be burned out on this genre.

I’m not sure why this book is called the stowaway when there was no stowaway? Seems like a bad name choice…

Lekker makkelijk boek, leest lekker vlot weg. Redelijk voorspelbaar, maar het doormidden hakken van Butler was een leuke twist. Einde laat ook open voor mogelijke vervolgen. Wel geïnteresseerd als die komen.
