Thank you @authormaggiegates & The Author Agency @theauthor.agency for this early copy of Seven of Hearts ❤️
Seven of Hearts reminded me why I love accidental pregnancy books so much. The care in which every phase of the book is written! The sweetness of watching the parents-to-be fall in love! The imperfect timing of it all that somehow makes it work out perfectly! It’s just so good 🥹
I loved how complicated so many of the dynamics were in this story but how it just makes for an even sweeter ending. I loved the friendships and Logan’s siblings! I loved how Logan and Leah’s friendship to relationship pacing felt so steady even in the midst of them trying to figure everything out. If you’re looking for an accidental pregnancy romance with found family elements, then this is such the book for you!
p.s. Somewhere Only We Know started playing as I was reading the epilogues & I need everyone to know I was SOBBING 😇

Thoughts: Just like Maggie admitted in her author’s note at the end, this book was like going back to visit all your old friends. I loved her Poker Club series and it was so fun seeing all my favorite couples a little bit older.
As Logan was Kristen’s brother, both she and Wil had larger roles as side characters in his story. I loved seeing Logan’s relationship with Wil from his perspective, and with them both as adults. He was Logan’s sounding board and really helped him through some times when he was struggling. Logan was a fantastic book boyfriend who just wanted to make everyone in his life proud. He was the best example of “if he wanted to, he would” while still having enough flaws to make him realistic and relatable. He did his best to take care of Leah and stepped up in some huge and powerful ways.
Leah was so different from Logan. She was outgoing and lived the opposite of his minimalist life style. But she was the perfect partner for Logan. She handled her pregnancy extremely well, even though there were some curveballs thrown in.
Overall, I really loved this book. The only reason it wasn’t a five star read for me was because there was something thrown in that I didn’t think added anything to the story and it just bugged me on a personal level. Maggie’s writing will always be a five star for me.

I loved this because there wasn't alot of problems between Logan and Leah it was mainly outside of them kind of stuff once they worked their own things out.
I also love a surprise baby trope that goes through the whole pregnancy, it's so cool getting to see them go through it all!

Leah and Logan grew up around each other, as his sister is her best friend. When he comes back to town for a wedding, the two reconnect, which ends with 2 lines a few weeks later. However, he lives in Chicago, and she does not want to be a burden. Once he finds out, he is determined to show up for her, in a way that she deserves. He is there for her when those closest to her fail her, and the two grow closer- she is able to lean on him. I love that he started the text chain to show what was being missed, and he was her support around needles. Logan’s need for his own friend was my favorite, and it was so nice that it was an integral part of their relationship. The title of this story fit it so well, and it was referenced throughout.
My first read by Maggie Gates had me crying happy tears because this story was so beautiful. Having all my favorite tropes, I knew I would enjoy Logan and Leah's story, but I more than enjoyed it. I loved it and was fully immersed from beginning to end.
Seven of Hearts easily became one of my favorite accidental pregnancy reads because it was written in such a realistic and honest way. She didn't gloss over how hard carrying a child is and the physical and emotional toll it takes on a woman's body. The way Logan doted on Leah throughout the pregnancy and was so emotionally available for her...be still my heart. He could teach a class on how a man should treat their woman through pregnancy.
Through it all, enjoying them falling in love made my heart so happy. Their communication was top tier and we need more of that in romance. Leah not only found her best friend in Logan, and she his, but their found their forever and partner in life in every way.
