This was another fun witchy story! I was initially super drawn into the story, but as it went on I definitely was getting more sucked into the plot. I already liked the characters from the first one so, it wasn’t too hard to connect with them again. Overall this is a fun witchy read and I would recommend continuing the series if you also enjoyed the first one!

While I enjoyed the first books more than this one and found it more memorable, this still is an entertaining and well-written story.

I found the mystery that the main characters were trying to solve intriguing and for the most part, I was very engaged in the investigation process. Nonetheless, the investigation dragged a little bit in the middle, it took too much focus away from the romance for my personal preference, and the resolution was a bit underwhelming.

I really liked the main characters and the romance between them, they had good chemistry and banter. I think this book could have been a bit more angsty considering the complicated history between the characters and the fact that their families are kind of "rivals", but the focus on the mystery didn't leave much room for that. still, it was fun to see the characters learn to understand each other, resolve the misunderstandings that have led them to be "nemesis" and finally give in to the attraction between them.

The world-building and the secondary characters add so much to the story, getting to learn more about the different types of magic in this world as well as the history of the different magical families is really interesting, and I can't wait to discover more in future books.

Cute overall story, but the book struggled to hold my attention and I found myself not retaining a lot of details. I wish I would have connected with the characters a bit more but loved the overall love story and witchy vibes.

As someone who thoroughly enjoyed Payback’s a Witch but didn’t find it to be anything groundbreaking, I had mid level expectations for this companion. And oh wow did this defy those expectations. Although the plot is definitely a bit basic, the romance in this is what really shines through. My biggest issue with Payback’s a Witch was the mostly just lukewarm romance, whereas this one was hot and steamy. The classic enemies-to-lovers troupe was done well, with a great lineup of romantic and sexy scenes throughout. This is a great read for anybody looking for some steamy romance with a fun, witchy backdrop.

Not my favorite couple in this world but I still can't get enough of Thistle Grove!

The second book in the “Witches of Thistle Grove” series was every bit as spellbinding as the first. Isadora Avramov loves her family and everything they stand for, including the necromantic magic that is their legacy. But when a member of a rival family is injured by a necromantic curse during this year’s Beltane festivities, she has to find who cast it to clear her family’s name. It won’t be easy, especially not with her archnemesis and perpetual do-gooder, Rowan Thorn, investigating alongside her.

These books are the perfect blend between fantasy/witchiness and contemporary romance. I have book three on my shelf and just pre-ordered the fourth!

Another 2.5 rounded up, methinks! While I definitely think I enjoyed this installment a bit more than the first book in the series, this was still just kind of okay for me. Not terrible by any means, but probably not something I'll really remember much about in a few months if I'm being honest lol

CW: anxiety, on page depiction of panic attacks
