i didn’t read the first in the series, but i don’t think it took anything away from the story itself. it was a really fun, witchy halloween read!! i had a good time!!

Wasn't quite doing what I wanted. Love a witchy read during october though
I know Isidora is a Leo.
This is the first witches fiction I’ve ever read, and I’m a fan of this modern take on witch fantasy. It makes the story more relatable and easier to visualize. Though I must say, a lot of the word choices are confusing me (and kind of out of place, I mean cuz?). Nobody wants to open a thesaurus while reading a book, just use normal words god damn. Besides the amount of unnecessary words, there are also some unnecessary conversations. Also, the spicy scene kind of throws me off, there wasn’t enough sexual tension (and it’s honestly okay) to deserve it. It doesn’t bother me, but it could’ve been okay and even better without it in my opinion (the kisses are fine though).
As for Issa and Rowan, I don’t really think they’re much of an archenemies. Opposite-attract is enough description for their relationship, but that’s it. Just a heads-up for someone who's actually looking for a strong enemy to lovers (which I didn’t).
I am still very much captivated by the story though, a good start for my fantasy read journey. 3.5/5 rounded up.
