I listened to the Audiobook, and was extremely put off by the reader pronouncing Pierre, South Dakota as "pee-AIR" instead of "PEER".
Hannah Swensen is at it again! Amateur Sleuthing at Christmastime. This time she baked some cookies for an event and someone involved tried to kill her, but not before Hannah let the killer know she knew they were the killer and the killer tried to kill her, but the killer got killed in the process. Good thing Mike was there to save the day because Heaven knows Hannah can't do anything herself. Even though she solves every murder, she somehow manages to always play the damsel in distress.
The biggest twist in Plum Pudding Murder was learning that there's no plums in plum pudding, nor is it even pudding.

Hannah and Norman have discovered the owner of the Crazy Elf Christmas Tree lot has been murdered. Not only is there another murder in town Hannah’s old lover from college shows up to Christmas dinner with her younger sister Michelle.
I’m loving this series. The endings keep getting better. The ending for plum pudding literally made me go “oh shit.” I so did not want that to end where it did. But I can’t wait to see what happens with it. Very clever way to make the reader buy the next book.
I am getting a little bored with the whole Mike or Norman thing. I mean if Mike really wanted to marry Hannah he wouldn’t be going out and getting it some where else. #teamnorman

If you remove the pages dedicated to cookie recipes and the time eating them and discussing them, half the book is gone. Then you remove the dragging dialogue of the small town characters, you're left with a few pages of a weak murder plot which seems quite out of place in the book. I'm amazed that this author has a series of books this way, that actually sell.
It hardly qualifies as a mystery or thriller, it's so sticky with sweetness of cookies. If the goal was portraying life in this small town, it wasn't a very good portrait. I'd say it's mostly young adults reading material. I'm angry at the librarian who recommended it as 'black comedy'
Bottom line DON'T READ IT!

I started this book and thought “how dumb-if I wanted recipes I would read a cookbook”...but I am now making one of the recipes lol so we’ll see how it turns out
Content warnings: love triangle, death
I can't describe how much I DESPISE love triangles (and this will literally be the first sentence on every single review of this series). Especially when her relationship at this point basically resembles a kind of healthy polyamorous relationship (both men know about the other, they're both dating the same person, and they're all more or less ok with it).
The murder mystery is pretty easy to solve in this series. Honestly at this point in life, I'm more reading these books because of the recipes and reading about her business.
This is an easy to read book in an easy to read book series. And there's not much I can say about this series.
