I think her writing is pretty unique, and also that she does take risks. She explores the ‘taboo’ theme that sexuality is and was great.
But I personally don’t feel like it was my type.

No rating on this one because I can tell I just wasn’t the right reader for it. The poetry is beautiful and it was a really strong message of self-love and strength. There were so many parts I loved. Many bits were a bit too explicit for me though, but that’s just personal preference so I’m not giving this one a star rating.

I wanted to read this as an easy read but discovered it was far from easy. it is HEAVY. The poet's words pierced through me, there is a lot of sadness hurt disappointment, and feelings of betrayal in her words. she may have written the poems in an erotic way but it felt so sad to me, screaming, only ache resonated from each poem.

The first part was trauma and her pain and ache, then unrequited love and other escape places she finds to heal her soul and heart, in the last part seems like she finds self-love. finding love in loving herself. She grew stronger in each part but still, the ache and hurt still lingered in her.

for me:
This final part, which is my fav, was the best! it felt like she really got what she really needed, she understood what can finally help her and it is no other than self-love.

recommended.

it sure is a poetry book. some of the lines and poems are nice, i think this collection mainly suffers from repetitiveness of the themes and metaphors, and the language does not flow the way a poem should.

this book needed to be shorter and frankly, a better editor. but it was readable and mildly enjoyable.

I hate to write a bad review about books but honesty is very important. I regret buying this book a long time ago, in fact I picked it up and instantly hated the poems

Yet another let down in the poetry section. Would have loved to explore the topic, which is talked about in the first few pages more.

I’m really disappointed that I just can’t seem to find a poetry collection that speaks to me even though I love poetry.

“the galaxy is yours:

star your own sky.
drink the shooting stars.
lasso the moon.
take a bite.
feel the juice
of self-love
running
down your chin
and laugh madly.
you’re still alive.
you’re still alive.
you’re still alive.”

2,5 stars .
Some of the poems here took me a while to grasp what it's about but overall I enjoyed reading the collection.
