Concise and well-written. It all felt like the tip of the iceberg—this was about so much more than Harriet Tubman. What a life.

A short, accessible biography of the Black abolitionist icon and all-around badass Harriet Tubman that made me realize how little I knew about her remarkable life and spirit. The writing style at times was irritating but might appeal to younger readers for whom I think this book would be a great fit.

I wish this book had gone into more detail about the events of Harriet Tubman’s incredible life, as well as more detail of what was happening around Harriet at the time. I grew up knowing the name Harriet Tubman but never really knew a lot of details. This was a good intro into the almost unbelievable life of Harriet Tubman and her astounding endurance and tenacity. I hope to get to see her on our $20 bills soon
