I adored this book! so! much! Becky is such a likable character and you can't help but roll your eyes at her avoidance and denial tactics.

The audio version was fantastic narrated by Emily Gray.

Summary: Becky Bloomwood is bored to death writing for Successful Saving. So, with a handsome credit line from her bank, she liberates herself the best way she knows how -- by shopping! Think of it as an investment, she tells herself. But, soon she is buried in bank notices and cursed VISA bills.

Easy, fun book to read. Perfect for the beach.

Sophie Kinsella books are funny, light and very easy reads. Good brain candy!

It wasn’t really for me. I’m not a big fan of books that turn into the next book that every older woman buys at Walmart because it’s interesting.

Rebecca Bloomwood just hit rock bottom. But she's never looked better.... Becky Bloomwood has a fabulous flat in London's trendiest neighborhood, a troupe of glamorous socialite friends, and a closet brimming with the season's must-haves. The only trouble is that she can't actually afford it--not any of it. Her job writing at Successful Savings not only bores her to tears, it doesn't pay much at all. And lately Becky's been chased by dismal letters from Visa and the Endwich Bank--letters with large red sums she can't bear to read--and they're getting ever harder to ignore.

If I had written this review when I was on pg.100, I would have given the book four stars. I was whipping through it, thoroughly enjoying the shopping sprees, the tension with the bank, the misinformed attempts to cut back and then earn more money. Kinsella's pacing was incredibly fun and light, a perfect chick lit read. But as the book wore on, I found my patience wearing thin. I think she lost her way midway through and the main storyline at this point of Becky's financial article was just tiresome after a point. I know this is not meant to be a classic, but you still hope the book will be the best it can be for what it's trying to accomplish. Overall, I really liked Becky's story, but I didn't think it was worth 310 pages.

Wow. Becky Bloomwood and I were seperated at birth. I would define myself as a shopaholic and seem unable to stick to the two principles Becky's dad puts forward: "make more money" or "spend less". So the solution to this issue is to just spend money. Lots of money. This is a great beach read- this is a really fun series to get caught up in!

A miserable book. I was happy with it for the first half but then had to give up. Just became too miserable for it to be an escapist read. The film is more upbeat.

I know this story has become a successful movie, but I didn't enjoy it much at all. I can't even say much about it, other than the humor was lost on me.

This girl gave me hope in my spending habits darn
her mentality! and how she gave herself rewards for being "good" lol absolutely hilarious
the bit where she made the curry had me in stitches, I couldn't read as I was laughing so hard
so it was good, the sad thing though is she never learns!
Four stars

Edit: It wasn't as funny the next time around lol I was just mostly very annoyed with her because why so wasteful?
