just two girls playing mermaids in the pool together……..unless ??

Weird girl book for sure, loved the depth of the characters and the almost entirely female focus. This really felt like a metaphor of girlhood and its difficulties and obsessions and uncertainties. Expected to be thrown off by the “gorey” parts but they all made sense.

Tbh I think I just need to stop reading books about psychotic breakdowns

Magnificent body horror meets the horror of coming of age.
Song captures the discomfort of common but abnormal realities of growing up like a volatile swim coach who touches too much but not enough for it to raise a red flag. Gray area sexual encounters that leave scars that don't fade. Yearning for anything other than the hand you've been delt.
The body horror element is a visceral climax to an already squirm worthy book.
This is for over achievers who are actually loser freaks

idk how the fuck i feel about this book

A sapphic weird gil book with an asian MC.
I loved it, even tho I dont überstand why I felt this way.
In short the MC decides to archive her dreams she Has to become a mermaid by any means. Its absolutly strange, but I loved most of it!

Please remember Reading is subjective.

what da fuq

so much of this book was explained rather than told. why so many run on sentences? why so many convoluted sentences? it doesn’t make the character sound other worldly, it makes them seem as though they can’t write in a descriptive and immersive way.
