A great space saga continues - this installment not as compelling as the previous ones, but still action packed, full of suspense and plot twists and turns and fairly interesting characters. Time to return to the TV series to catch up with the books.

UKUPNA OCENA (overall rating) ★★★✫
Radnja (story) ★★★✫
Likovi (characters) ★★★✫
Pripovedanje (writing style) ★★★★

It was nice to return to the Expanse, especially with the TV show on SyFy up and going (which I've enjoyed quite a bit!). I was a bit disappointed with the last book in the series, not because it was bad, but because it seemed to kind of fall a little flat compared to the first two. It wasn't as interesting, exciting, or dynamic. Cibola Burn was a nice return to form.

The plot mostly tackles the big question of squatter's rights during colonization and what ownership actually means. It's an interesting take on expanding frontiers in space, and throws in enough alien weirdness that we've come to expect in the series (the protomolecule isn't done yet) and great action sequences to keep things fun.

Holden and his crew are still good characters to read about, and don't seem like they're leveling off and becoming flat...they're still developing enough for the series. There are new characters introduced, old ones brought back in, and the whole cast is really robust. There are a few regulars who only show up a bit, but they're involved enough to keep the big-picture-plotline moving. There are still tensions between Mars, Earth, and the OPA, even if they're happening a bit more in the background.

I'm really glad this book series got picked up for TV. It's got everything you'd want to be entertained through both mediums. Another solid Expanse book, and it doesn't look like that's going to change with future books.
